NFC stands for Near field communication which is a set of communication protocols that enable two electronic devices, one of which is usually a portable device such as a Smartphone, to establish communication by bringing them within 0 - 1.5'' inch of each other.
NFC technology enables simple and safe two-way interactions between electronic devices, allowing consumers to perform contactless transactions, access digital content, and connect electronic devices with a single tap. NFC complements popular wireless technologies such as Bluetooth.

An NFC tag is an unpowered microchip that is embedded in a SimplyX label stickers or in general most places where you see this symbol (N-Mark). These are small integrated circuits designed to store information that can be retrieved by NFC-enabled devices like the smartphones and tablets.
