Frequently asked questions

NFC stands for Near field communication which is a set of communication protocols that enable two electronic devices, one of which is usually a portable device such as a Smartphone, to establish communication by bringing them within 0 - 1.5'' inch of each other.

NFC technology enables simple and safe two-way interactions between electronic devices, allowing consumers to perform contactless transactions, access digital content, and connect electronic devices with a single tap. NFC complements popular wireless technologies such as Bluetooth.

An NFC tag is an unpowered microchip that is embedded in a SimplyX label stickers or in general most places where you see this symbol (N-Mark). These are small integrated circuits designed to store information that can be retrieved by NFC-enabled devices like the smartphones and tablets. They are typically small stickers, in round or square shape and are about the size of a large coin.

Whenever you see the N-Mark symbol, it means, “tap here” to learn more or to activate an NFC transaction or experience. You’ll find this symbol on NFC-enabled devices, in apps that support NFC, and on touchpoints around town and around the world. SimplyX logo has the N-Mark symbol if you bring a phone in proximity it will display the information underneath that you have pre- selected in the user home page.

Bluetooth technology eliminates the use of cables to connect to your devices to one another. NFC technology is designed to work with Bluetooth. A simple tap will pair NFC and NFC-enabled Bluetooth devices for ongoing connectivity.

The location of a phone’s NFC touchpoint or “sweet spot” varies by manufacturer, although it is typically found on the back or top edge of the phone. To determine where the NFC touchpoint is positioned on your specific phone, please consult your owner’s manual.

Bluetooth wireless technology was designed to replace cables between cell phones, laptops, and other computing and communication devices within a 10-meter range.

Wi-Fi technology was designed and optimized for Local Area Networks (LAN); it provides an extension or replacement of wired networks for dozens of computing devices within a +100-meter range.

ZigBee wireless technology is a standard enabling control and monitoring capabilities for industrial and residential applications within a +100-meter range.

RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is an automatic identification method, relying on storing and remotely retrieving data using devices called RFID tags. An RFID tag is a small object that can be attached to or incorporated into a product. RFID tags contain silicon chips to enable them to receive and respond to queries from an RFID reader/writer.

Contactless smart cards incorporate a chip (microprocessor) that communicates with a card reader through RFID technology. Examples of contactless smart card communications are ISO/IEC 14443 and FeliCa, which allow communications at distances up to 10 cm.
